<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which printing time does not tend to become long even when carrying out continuous large volume printing. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier 10 on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, a developing means 40 for visualizing the electrostatic latent image by toner, a transfer means 50 for transferring the toner image to a transfer medium 80 and a brush member 70 for recovering transfer residual toner on the image carrier 10 once and then returning the toner back to the image carrier 10 by ejecting it. The brush member 70 is rotated counterclockwise to the image carrier 10 in an image forming process and bristles planted density A äkF/inch<SP>2</SP>} for the brush member 70 and the circumferential speed ratio θ of the brush member 70 to the image carrier 10 satisfies a relationship of 40≤A×θ≤500. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
