PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide newsprint paper for offset printing sufficiently suppressing a pressure-sensitive adhesive phenomenon and suppressing all of the vessel pick and blanket piling and having remarkably improved inking properties. SOLUTION: The newsprint paper for offset printing is obtained by coating both surfaces of base paper with a surface treating agent consisting essentially of a polymer-introduced oxidized starch prepared by introducing a styrene-methacrylate copolymer or a salt thereof into oxidized starch having 50,000-80,000 weight-average molecular weight and drying the surface treating agent. At least one kind selected from a styrenic surface sizing agent and an olefinic surface sizing agent, a pigment, etc., may be contained in the surface treating agent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
