A data processing device of an optical disk and a processing method thereof are provided to effectively manage a memory required for processing data, thereby reducing memory size such as an SRAM(Static Random Access Memory) comprised in a data processing device of a high-density optical disk while improving speed of the processing device. A modulator/demodulator(10) demodulates a physical cluster read from a disk, and outputs LDC(Long Distance Code) data and BIS(Burst Indicating Subcode) data included within the physical cluster. The first memory unit(20) temporarily stores partial LDC data and BIS data among the outputted data. The second memory unit(30) receives the LDC data and the BIS data from the first memory unit(20) to store the received LDC and BIS data, and outputs LDC data and BIS data which need error correction among the stored data to the first memory unit(20). A memory controller(40) controls data reading and writing processes of the first memory unit(20) and the second memory unit(30).
