PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of embedding additional information without deteriorating image quality and capable of reducing toner consumption. SOLUTION: The image processor is provided with an additional information embedding means 70 for embedding additional information to a character area of a target image, a character recognition means 42 for recognizing characters in the target image, a dictionary means 43 in which an additional information embedding inhibition area is regulated for each character recognized by the character recognition means 42 and a embedding inhibition area specification means 44 for specifying a embedding inhibition area from the character area on the basis of the dictionary means 43. The additional information embedding means 70 is constituted of a barcode conversion means 72 for converting the additional information into a barcode and a barcode embedding means 74 for embedding the converted barcode as a barcode crossing the character area at a prescribed angle so that the barcode embedding means 74 embeds the barcode on the outside of the embedding inhibition area specified by the embedding inhibition area specification means 44.
