PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aligning device and an aligning method, preventing a hit mark of a bevel gear caused in meshing bevel gears with each other. SOLUTION: With a first bevel gear 16 and a second bevel gear 20' installed at a predetermined space, a laser beam is illuminated to predetermined regions of the first bevel gear 16' and the second bevel gear 20'. In the case of fitting another bevel gear 16 to a first rotating shaft 12, the bevel gear 16 is fitted to the first rotating shaft 12 so that the laser beam is illuminated to the predetermined region, thereby deciding the fitting position of the bevel gear 16 to the first rotating shaft 12. In the case of fitting another bevel gear 20 to a second rotating shaft 18, the bevel gear 20 is fitted to the second rotating shaft 18 so that the laser beam is illuminated to a predetermined region, thereby deciding the fitting position of the bevel gear 20 to the second rotating shaft 18.
