A novel process is disclosed for producing shining, thin silver layers at room temperature, avoiding the disadvantages of known processes, in particular the use of highly toxic substances, and achieving at the same time a very good levelling coating effect on a large variety of backing materials. For that purpose, an almost neutral silver salt solution in which silver ions are complexed with an amino group-containing complexing agent, in particular aliphatic amino acids, primary, secondary or tertiary amines, is applied through a two-component mixing gun, together with an acid reducing agent solution, to a surface to be coated. |
