The fish-farming system comprises a fish rearing tank (3) fitted with floats (35) and a ballast tank (20), allowing its position to be regulated in e.g. a lake. A pump (44) mounted on a float pumps fresh water from the lake, forcing contaminated water from the tank through a filter system (6, 7) back into the lake.
