The test apparatus has an interface for receiving an electrical signal from the microphone and/or for transmitting a control and/or test signal to the microphone to test specific signals or to trigger a response to a signal from the microphone. A memory is provided to store an individual identification code for the microphone. A test unit is provided to perform the test process. The test results obtained by performing the test are at least temporarily stored in the memory. Independent claims are also inlcuded for a remote testing system.
