The present invention implements non-contacting, non-compliant torque sensors (44,46) to read and determine the amount of torque being transferred through the respective driveshafts (22, 26) and to compensate for changes in driving conditions using data collected from these sensors. The all-wheel drive system of the present invention includes a transmission (36) driven by an engine (30) , or some other prime mover, as well as primary and secondary drivelines (13,15) each having a shaft (22,26) for transferring torque to a differential (24,28) . The primary driveline (13) has a primary differential (28) , and the secondary driveline (15) has a secondary differential (24) . A transfer case (32) connects the transmission (36) to the primary driveline (13) and the secondary driveline (15) . Located in between the shaft (22) for the secondary driveline (15) and the secondary differential (24) , the system also features a coupling unit (38) .
|
