<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method, which are capable of suppressing the degradation in image quality due to electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor not being developed correctly, because toner interspersed with a large number of electrostatically charged toners is used for development. <P>SOLUTION: Four developing units are attached to a developing rotary and the developing rotary is driven to be rotated by a CPU, to move the first developing unit to a developing position. Then, the electrostatic latent image is developed by using the toner in the first developing unit. When it is decided that the consumption of the toner in the first developing unit has reached a prescribed amount, 360-degree rotation drive of the developing rotary is controlled, and the toner in the first developing unit is stirred. When it is discriminated that there is toner in the first developing unit, after the developing rotary has been rotated, the development is performed continuously by using the toner in the first developing unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
