<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology with which initializing processing performed when an image carrier is new is efficiently performed in an image forming apparatus to be switched and to be used as a color image forming apparatus or a monochrome image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When the image forming apparatus is used as the color image forming apparatus while developing devices of different colors from each other are attached, toner accumulation processing (step S204) accumulating prescribed amount of toner at an abutting part between an intermediate transfer belt and a cleaner is performed. The rotation cycle of the intermediate transfer belt is measured (step S205) while the toner is accumulated, and resist controlled variable is set based on the result of the measurement. When the image forming apparatus is used as the image forming apparatus to be used only for forming a monochrome image, toner accumulation processing without measurement processing of the cycle is performed (step S206). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
