<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and rapidly charge a battery up to a desired SOC (State Of Charge). <P>SOLUTION: When the SOC of the battery is not higher than a preset charge mode switching threshold, an engine is operated at an operating point at which fuel consumption is minimized, and a normal charge mode is selected in which electric power is generated by a motor to charge the battery while the required driving force for travel is met. Once the SOC of the battery has exceeded the threshold, the engine is operated at the operating point at which fuel consumption is minimized, and the mode is switched to a microcurrent charge mode in which the battery is charged with a preset microcurrent while the required driving force for travel is met. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
