PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel manufacturing method of a transition metal complex that permits easy manufacture of transition metal complexes useful in various fields, and a novel transition metal complex.

SOLUTION: The transition metal complex represented by general formula (II) (wherein M2is a transition metal in the 6th period of the periodic table; Y is a bivalent linking group; and Z is a bivalent linking group or a direct bond) is manufactured from a specific compound as a raw material.
