PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite image formation system capable of separating a region of a hand-written element from an image read by a scan unit, even when the memory resource is not abundant. SOLUTION: The composite image formation system allows a printing unit to print out a background image, obtained from a user image stored on a recording medium and assigned to a hand-written region, placing reference marks denoting the sides of paper corresponding to the read-start line of the scan unit, and sample bands in a plurality of colors in a particular color gamut assigned to band regions on a side of the placing reference marks nearer than the hand-written region of an order sheet, allows the scan unit to read images in a scan region, including the hand-written region and the band regions in the raster order from the order sheet on the hand-written region of which a user hand-writes the hand-written element, uses the color gamut of the images in the sampling object regions, to divide the hand-written element region and combines the user image and the image in the hand-written element region and forms a composite image.
