PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cup-shaped electrode, and a method of processing and welding a lead wire for cost reduction. SOLUTION: This method comprises a step of cutting a refractory metal foil having a predetermined thickness and width to have a predetermined length, and performing rounding process so that both of the cut ends abut against one another to form a cylindrical shape, a step of squeezing one opening of the cylindrical shape into a funnel-shape having a predetermined diameter, a step of forming an almost nail-shaped connector consisting of a disc 2c having the large diameter as a bottom board made of molybdenum and a lead wire 2d having the small diameter, a step of inserting the connector into an opening on the opposite side so that the disc 2c of the connector fits to the bottom part of the squeezed opening, and a step of welding and fixing the opening to the connector by laser welding.
