PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material having low fog, high image density, excellent image tone, and excellent raw storage stability, and provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material has, on at least one surface of a support, an image forming layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, a fatty acid silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder, wherein the black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material contains a compound represented by formula (I) as the reducing agent.
