PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle such as a truck capable of conditioning air during a nap at night without operating an engine, and in addition, the air conditioner can be made by simple structure and simple to be controlled. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for a vehicle uses a hybrid compressor as a compressor to be provided in a refrigeration cycle. The hybrid compressor is formed by integrally assembling a first compression mechanism using a vehicle traveling engine as the driving source with a second compression mechanism using a built-in electric motor as the driving source. The air conditioner has an operation control mode at which, when the engine is stopped, the compressor is operated only by the drive of the motor to operate the air conditioner.
