PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus wherein a fixing member can be cooled at a low cost, dispensing with long waiting time that is required for reducing the temperature of the fixing member to a printing allowable temperature, and dispensing with driving member, power of power source or the like and mechanical space, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: Regarding the fixing apparatus having the fixing member which rotates backward and forward, the apparatus includes a propeller 12 which rotates when the backward rotation of the fixing member so that the wind generated with the rotation of the propeller is sent to the fixing member, when cooling the fixing member (5), as necessary.
