PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having superior display quality, in particular, as a liquid crystal display device having a columnar spacer. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with an array substrate, a counter substrate 20, a sealing material 70 in a rectangular frame shape, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the array substrate and counter substrate within an effective region enclosed with the sealing material, and the columnar spacer. The columnar spacer includes a corner spacer 51 arranged nearby at least one sealing material corner part 71 between the array substrate and counter substrate within the effective region, and the corner spacer holds a gap between those substrates, and a section parallel to a surface of the array substrate and a surface of the counter substrate has a long axis, whose extension direction tilts to two sides defining the angle of the sealing material 70 and crosses only one of those two sides.
