PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method capable of shortening a deicing time to reduce a required deicing water volume, and capable of enhancing ice making efficiency and an ice making cycle, in an automatic ice machine. SOLUTION: In this automatic ice machine, hot gas is supplied to an evaporator when starting a deicing operation, and deicing water is supplied from a deicing water sprayer to an ice making part to melt an iced condition between the ice making part and an iced face of an ice block. When a temperature of the evaporator is detected to reach a set temperature by a temperature detecting means, after the deicing operation is progressed to some extents, a circulation pump PM is driven to supply the deicing water (ice making water) from the deicing water sprayer to the ice making part, and separation of the ice block is further promoted. The supply of the deicing water under the deicing operation is controlled based on water level detection by a high water level sensor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
