PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a polycycloolefin functional polysiloxane. SOLUTION: This method for producing a compound expressed by averaged compositional formula (2) [wherein, (j) is≥0 number; (n) is≥0.01 to <4 number; (m) is 0 or <4 positive number; and provided that (m+n)<4] is provided by reacting with heating a polysiloxane expressed by averaged compositional formula (1): R<SP>2</SP>SiR<SP>1</SP><SB>m</SB>O<SB>[(4-m-n)/2]</SB>[wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a monovalent organic group; R<SB>2</SB>is a group containing an unsaturated bond; (m), (n) are the same as above] with dicyclopentadiene under an atmospheric pressure.
