The inventive method consists in encoding (2) a low-resolution frames for delivering an encoded low-resolution frames, in decoding (3) the low-resolution frames for delivering a reconstructed low-resolution image, in upsampling (4) the reconstructed image for delivering a prediction frames, in upsampling (5) a reconstructed frame for delivering a prediction image in the form of the high resolution image dimensions, in encoding (6) the higher resolution image by computing the difference with the prediction image in such a way that residues are available.
