Disclosed are phosphor compositions having the formulas [Ba<SUB>1-x-y-w-2z</SUB>Sr<SUB>x</SUB>Ca<SUB>y</SUB>Ce<SUB>z</SUB>(Li,Na)<SUB>z</SUB>Eu<SUB>2</SUB>]<SUB>2</SUB>Si<SUB>5</SUB>N<SUB>8</SUB>, where 0<w<O.1, 0<z<0.1, 0<=x<1, 0<=Y<1; [BA<SUB>1-x-y-w-2z</SUB>Sr<SUB>x</SUB>Ca<SUB>y</SUB>Ce<SUB>z</SUB>(Li,Na)<SUB>z</SUB>Eu<SUB>w</SUB>]Si<SUB>7</SUB>N<SUB>10</SUB>, where 0<z<0.1, 0<=x<0.1, 0<=x<1, 0<=y<0.3; AND [CA<SUB>1-2x-y-w</SUB>(Na,Li)<SUB>x+w</SUB>Ce<SUB>x</SUB>Eu<SUB>y</SUB>]Al<SUB>1-w</SUB>Si<SUB>1+w</SUB>N<SUB>3</SUB>, where 0<w<=0.3, 0<x<=0.1, 0<y<=0.1. When combined with radiation from a blue or UV light source, these phosphors can provide light sources with good color quality having high CRI over a large color temperature range.
