The injector has piezoelectric actuator (1) acting on an outwardly opened valve needle by a stroke transformer (5). The rigidity of a valve (3) and the stroke transformer corresponds to the rigidity of the piezoelectric actuator. The stroke transformer is formed by a hydraulic unit that serves as a hydraulic length adjusting unit. The hydraulic unit is formed by hydraulic pistons (8, 9) that have different cross sections are connected in series and a common hydraulic operating chamber, and a throttled leakage path between primary and secondary sides of the hydraulic pistons.
