CAN BODY FOR TWO-PIECE CAN MADE OF LAMINATE STEEL SHEET AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURE THEREOF

A method for manufacture of a can body for use in a two-piece can by performing a multi-stage molding of a disc-shaped laminate steel sheet having a radius (R₀), the method comprising the steps of: producing a molded article at least once using a laminate steel sheet having a polyester resin coated thereon, where the polyester resin has a planer orientation coefficient of 0.06 or less and the molded article has the height (h), the maximum radius (r) and the minimum radius (d) satisfying the following requirements: d=r, 0.2=d/R=0.5 and 1.5=h/(R-r)=2.5 wherein R represents the radius of a laminate steel sheet having a weight equivalent to that of the finished molded article; heating the molded article at least once at a temperature equal to or higher than 150°C and equal to or lower than the melting temperature of the polyester resin; and processing the molded article into a molded article satisfying the following requirements: d=r, 0.1=d/R=0.25 and 1.5=h/(R-r)=4. The method can manufacture a can body for a two-piece can which is made of a laminate steel sheet and is free from the detachment or fracture of a resin layer, readily at a low cost.
