A hydrogen generating composition, capable of liberating hydrogen through a sorption mechanism in the presence of vapour or gas of a reagent which comprises a sorbent compound for sorption of the vapour or gas of the reagen t and a hydrogen-releasing agent for liberating hydrogen from the reagent retained by the sorbent compound.
