LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device excellent in the viewing angle control.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal display panel including an array substrate, a counter substrate and a liquid crystal layer; a backlight; and a polarization reflecting plate disposed between the backlight and the array substrate. The polarization reflecting plate includes an isotropic medium layer consisting of an isotropic medium and an anisotropic medium layer which is stacked on the isotropic medium and has refractive index anisotropy. The anisotropic medium layer is formed of an optically uniaxial medium. The average direction of an optical axis of the anisotropic medium layer is inclined from the normal direction and the surface direction of the polarization reflecting plate.
