<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device for stably detecting a position selected by a position pointing device and a liquid crystal display device using this position detection device. <P>SOLUTION: This position detection device is provided with: a liquid crystal display panel 10 having a plurality of display pixels PX arranged like a matrix, and signal lines Sg extended along the column direction of the display pixels PX and scanning lines Sc extended along the line direction of the display pixels PX; and a sensor substrate 300 where a plurality of coil sensors Xn arranged side by side on a plane are formed, and arranged so as to be overlapped on the crystal display panel 10.
