<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which enables the smooth switching of the visual recognition brightness in display between stereoscopic and flat images while securing the brightness and ready visibility in the display of the flat images. <P>SOLUTION: When the stereoscopic image display mode is entered with an LCD barrier 83 off, a lighting device 81 turns on the low intensity of illumination to illuminate a display panel 82 by light of a relatively low luminance. On the other hand, when the flat image display mode is entered with the LCD barrier 83 on, the lighting device 81 turns on the high intensity of illumination to illuminate the display panel 82 with light of a relatively high luminance. At this point, the on/off switch of the LCD barrier 83 and the high/low luminance switch of the lighting device 81 are matched in timings, thereby reducing visual discrepancy as felt in the switch from the flat to stereoscopic images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
