PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cable (POF) which is excellent in chemical resistance and, moreover, is excellent in long-term heat resistance in a high temperature environment of 100 to 150°C. SOLUTION: The plastic optical fiber cable comprises: a POF fiber provided with a core made of polymer containing methyl methacrylate unit and one or more clad layers formed on the outer circumferential surface of the core; and a cover layer of covering the outer circumferential part of the POF fiber. At least the outermost layer of the clad layers is composed of a fluorine-containing olefin resin which contains tetrafluoroethylene unit and has crystal fusion heat in a differential scanning calorimetry of 40 mJ/mg or less. The cover layer is made of a cover material which contains a polyvinylidene fluoride resin material having the content of vinylidene fluoride unit of 94 mass% or more, and a light shielding agent. The thermal shrinkage ratio in the axial direction of the POF fiber upon the heat treatment at 105°C for 24 hr is 2.0% or less. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
