PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently and precisely protect a mold assembly. SOLUTION: This motorized vertical molding machine comprises: a frame 11; a lower platen 31 to which a lower mold 51 is attached; an upper platen 35 to which an upper mold 52 is attached; a base plate which is movably arranged below the lower platen 31; a motor 38 for clamping the mold, which makes the upper platen 35 advance/retreat, which brings the upper mold 52 into contact with/separation from the lower mold 51, and which performs mold-closing, mold-clamping and mold-opening operations; and a shock absorber for absorbing shock of the movement of the base plate by predetermined holding force. Since the shock absorber makes the shock of the movement of the base plate absorbed by fixed holding force, the mold assembly 22 can be sufficiently protected without reference to the type of the mold assembly 22 during the closing of the mold.
