<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid system in which a rotator can be miniaturized, and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The hybrid system comprises rotary shaft parts 11 and 12, an engine 2, a rotator 3, a driven part 4, a motor 6, a control part 7, and a clutch 8. The engine 2 and the rotator 3 are connected to the rotary shaft part 11, and the driven part 4 and the motor 6 to the rotary shaft part 12. The rotator 3 can provide functions of both an electric motor and a generator. The clutch 8 is provided between the rotary shaft part 11 and the rotary shaft part 12 to be contactible and non-contactible therewith. The control part 7 contacts the rotary shaft part 11 and the rotary shaft part 12 with the clutch 8. The control part makes the rotator 3 rotate the rotary shaft part 11 by making the rotator 3 function as the electric motor.
