<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron gun having a cathode assembly with excellent power efficiency and capable of realizing high intensity and a long service life by suppressing a generated magnetic field as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The cathode assembly C of the electron gun is provided with the cathode 6 emitting electrons and a cylindrical graphite heater 12 arranged in the periphery of the cathode 6 with a prescribed interval.
