<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insurance card authentication system capable of easily authenticating whether an insurance card is valid. <P>SOLUTION: An insurance card reader 10 reads an insurer information description side of an insurance card 40 as insurance card image data. An authentication processor 20 specifies the kind of the insurance card 40 after collating the read insurance card image data with a pre-stored template of the insurance card 40, optically reads only a necessary character string and converts insurer information into editable character data. Then, after determining whether the insurer information is past read insurer information, an insurer information management server 30 is inquired through a network communication network to collate and determine the insurer information, and validity of the insurance card 40 is determined from an authentication result based on the collation and determination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
