PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security system 1 capable of easily changing the role of a transmitter 30 according to the lifestyle of each home. SOLUTION: The security system 1 comprises a security sensor 40 transmitting, in the event of an abnormality of security in a home, an alarm signal and a receiver 10 outputting, upon receipt of the alarm signal, a first alarm sound. This system further comprises the transmitter 30 transmitting an operation signal when a button 31 provided thereon is operated. The receiver 10 includes an operation setting means setting so as to be selectable, as an operation upon receipt of the operation signal from the transmitter 30, an alarm mode for ringing a second alarm sound and a stopping mode for stopping the ringing first alarm sound.
