PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material which ensures excellent image preservability and raw stock preservability, low fog, a high maximum density, a good silver tone and a small density variation due to a humidity change even when rapidly heat-developed with a small laser imager, and an image forming method. SOLUTION: The silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material has, on one and the same side of a support, a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide grains, a binder and a reducing agent, an outermost layer and a non-photosensitive intermediate layer disposed between the photosensitive layer and the outermost layer, wherein a binder contained in the outermost layer or a binder contained in the non-photosensitive intermediate layer contains 50-100 mass% of a latex of a hydrophobic polymer, and a polymer prepared by copolymerizing 10-70 mass% of a monomer represented by the formula (M): CH<SB>2</SB>=CR<SB>01</SB>-CR<SB>02</SB>=CH<SB>2</SB>is contained as the binder used in the photosensitive layer.
