PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the variation of molten steel surface in a mold at the short time of casting by eliminating the backlash of a dummy bar. SOLUTION: A continuous casting method is performed, with which many rolls 10 are arranged in parallel at the downstream side of the mold and the molten steel is drawn out from this mold with the dummy bar 5 to start the casting. This rolls 10 contains pinch rolls 11 holdable to the dummy bar 5 at the prescribed interval. When the dummy bar 5 is delivered from the pinch rolls 11a at the upstream side to the pinch rolls 11b at the downstream side, based on the total amount D of the backlash of the dummy bar 5, the pinch rolls 11b are controlled so as to rotate at a feeding peripheral speed for satisfying the following formula (1). Formula (1): 0.98×(1-D/L)≤Vb/Va≤(1-D/L). Wherein, Va: feeding peripheral speed for pinch rolls 11a, Vb: feeding peripheral speed for pinch rolls 11b, D: the total amount of the backlash in the longitudinal direction of the dummy bar 5, and L: distance passing the dummy bar 5 through the pinch rolls 11a under state of simultaneously holding with the pinch rolls 11a, 11b (but D<L).
