The invention concerns a linear compressor ( 1 ) with a piston ( 16 ) reciprocating in a cylinder ( 8 ), a linear motor acting upon the piston ( 16 ) and a resonance spring arrangement ( 5 ) connected with the piston ( 16 ). It is endeavoured to reliably avoid damaging the compressor during operation. For this purpose, the resonance spring arrangement ( 5 ) has a fixed stop ( 48 ) allocated to the upper dead point of the piston ( 16 ).
