When the rectangular cover of an air- or water-mattress (10) is filled with the appropriate substance the walls (11,12,13) show a tendency to bulge resulting in an uncomfortable use. The new design of a mattress (10) has an upper layer (11) with a woven inner textile surface comprising a multitude of loose threads guided towards the complementary surface at the lower layer (12). When the mattress (10) is inflated or filled the layers (11,12) are kept at a predetermined distance by the integrated bridges.
