<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost humidity detecting device and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The humidity detecting device comprises: fibers which change in shape in response to humidity; an LED which is a light emitting element; and a PD which is a light receiving element.
