<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain instant food shortened in its size to the limit, as preservative food suitable for mass storage and convenient carrying, preparing especially for emergency such as a disaster. <P>SOLUTION: The instant food is obtained by sealing a solid food 30 which can become edible by reconstituting through adding water in a container 20. The container 20 has a bottom wall whose almost whole surface touches the solid food, and a peripheral wall 21 which extends to the entire circumference of the bottom wall along the solid food and is higher than the height of the solid food 30. The solid food 30 is sealed in the container 20 by folding the upper part of the peripheral wall 21 along the upper surface of the solid food 30 followed by seal-fusing. When eating the solid food 30, the peripheral wall 21 higher than the height of the solid food 30 placed on the bottom wall is formed by expanding the upper part of the folded peripheral wall 21, thus the container 20 has volume allowing to hold water to be poured to reconstitute the solid food 30.
