PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train detector suitable for detecting presence of trains on lines of different signal frequencies by arbitrarily setting the frequency set value for transmission/reception for each track circuit of different line kinds. SOLUTION: The train detector comprises: a means for storing a plurality of transmission frequency characteristics and reception frequency characteristics corresponding to the line kind and the track circuit; a means for selecting and setting the transmission frequency characteristic and the reception frequency characteristic by the track circuit unit; and a means for setting the transmission/reception frequencies corresponding to the line kind and the track circuit. The presence of trains is detected by selecting the transmission frequency and the reception frequency by the track circuit unit according to the line kind input from the setting means, and by transmitting/receiving the signal to a plurality of track circuits.
