PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pulling operation force required for a release strap in a lock release operation mechanism capable of canceling the release state of the lock mechanism even if the pulling state of the release strap is maintained. SOLUTION: The lock release operation mechanism of the seat for the vehicle is a mechanism for switching the seat from the state that it is engaged/locked on a floor to the release state by pulling operation of the release strap US, and has an operation arm 10 pivoted accompanying with the pulling operation of the release strap US; and a driven arm 20 pressed by this and switching lock mechanisms 40A, 40B to the release state. When pivoting of the operation arm 10 is removed from the abutment state with the driven arm 20 and a pressing position relationship is reversed, the driven arm 20 is returned to the initial position and switches the lock mechanisms 40A, 40B to the engageable/lockable state. An abutment member 30 turnably connected to the operation arm 10 avoids the engagement with the driven arm 20 by turning at turning in a returning direction of the operation arm 10 when the pressing position relation is reversed to return the pressing position relation to an original relation.
