PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus of a simplified constitution for determining damage of structures through the use of AE sources for one-dimensional location and capable of executing highly practical and easy determination. SOLUTION: In the method for determining damage of structures through the use of the AE sources for one-dimensional location, a plurality of the AE sensors are one-dimensionally and linearly arranged in a one-dimensional member on which traffic loads are exerted. One-dimensional AE locations are detected by a simple processing device through the use of the differences between the arrival times of AE signals of the one-dimensionally arranged AE sensors to determine damage of the one-dimensional member.
