PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor of a cooling system capable of suppressing deterioration of a sealing member for ensuring airtightness of a discharge chamber, lubricating oil, and an electric motor and improving reliability in its operation. SOLUTION: This electric compressor of the cooling system is provided with a scroll type compression unit 38 driven by the electric motor 18, an adjacent space 58 which is adjacent to the discharge chamber 46 of the compression unit 38 and in which reflux refrigerant from the cooling system is introduced through an introduction port 52, a connection pipe 60 for connecting the adjacent space 58 with an electric motor chamber 14 as a surrounding space surrounding the electric motor 18, and a connection pipe 62 for connecting an intake space 66 for letting the compression unit 38 absorb the reflux refrigerant with the electric motor chamber 14. Flow passage cross sectional area of the connection pipes 60, 62 is smaller than typical cross sectional area of each space 58, 14, 66. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
