PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving the operability of a user. SOLUTION: When the user selects a file A3 to be operated from a box in the image forming apparatus, characteristics of the selected file A3 are extracted. A characteristic point recording area is retrieved to thereby access data of a past execution history of files B1 to n having the same (or similar) characteristic points as those of the file A3 to be displayed.
