A polynucleotide probe or primer for use in the detection or screening of a growing progenitor cell of a dopamine-producing neuron, which can hybridize with the nucleotide sequence of Msx1 or Msx2 gene or a complementary sequenc e thereof; and an antibody directed against Msx1 or Msx2 protein for use in th e detection or screening of a growing progenitor cell of a dopamine-producing neuron.
