<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device and an optical disk device capable of smoothly and properly executing aberration correction with simple control processing, and capable of smoothly executing aberration correction even for a multilayer disk. <P>SOLUTION: When a disk substrate thickness is within the range A of FIG. 6(b), a convex type liquid crystal lens 160a is driven. When the disk substrate thickness is within the range B of FIG. 6(b), driving of both of the convex type liquid crystal lens 160a and a concave type liquid crystal lens 160b is stopped. Further, when the disk substrate thickness is within the range C of FIG. 6(b), the concave liquid crystal lens 160b is driven. Thus, even when the disk substrate thickness varies within a standard range, a spherical aberration is always suppressed to a threshold value or less. The aberration correction is realized only by performing on-off control of the convex and concave liquid crystal lenses 160a and 160b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
