PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the conventional external storage device is required to depend on a manual operation in a data backup process in a portable device and an automatic backup method thereof. SOLUTION: The portable device has a control unit, a program storage unit and a data storage unit. The program storage unit automatically installs the portable device to a computer and supplies a program necessary for performing backing up data of the computer. The data storage unit is for storing the data of the computer. The control unit controls communication transmission between the program storage unit and the data storage unit and the computer, respectively. Thus, the drive program of the portable device is automatically installed and the data of the computer are automatically backed up in the data storage unit by starting an automatic execution function by the computer when the portable device is connected to the computer.
