PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a media drive from being closed than necessary. SOLUTION: A controller (10) existing at the higher order than a media drive (20) issues a first read command to designate a plurality of data blocks to the media drive (20), and when detecting timeout about it, the controller generates a second read command to designate a portion of a plurality of data blocks, and issues the second read command to the media drive (20). When receiving the portion of data blocks without detecting timeout about the second read command, the controller (10) issues the second read command to the media drive (20) one or more times to read the plurality of data blocks designated by the first read command.
